Colonia - Score 6/10

Director - Florian Gallenberger

At first glance of this film I thought I was about to watch a political drama of sorts but soon came to realise that I was watching something a lot darker.

Looking into the cult of Colonia Dignidad was both thrilling and frightening and at times hard to watch.

I felt some of the technical aspects of the film fell short. I believe Emma Watson’s character was supposed to be German however she clearly keeps her own voice throughout the film which just made no sense to me.

The screenplay I felt could have been better, a lack of a originality and at times just dry.

However Michael Nyqvist put out a fantastic performance as Paul Schäfer, the cult leader, scary and unsettling to watch.

Colonia had its entertaining moments but was far from perfect.
